Hong Kong's Skyline

Hong Kong has always been the most visited country by Filipinos. Not only are they visa-free (can stay up to maximum 14 days), travel time will only take you approximately 2 hours by plane.
Hong Kong International Airport (IATA code: HKG) has been hailed as 4th World's Best Airport this year so everyone knows what to expect once they set foot outside. Here are some tips you can consider if you are traveling to Hong Kong:

  • Purchase octopus card upon arrival

Hong Kong's  transportation system is very efficient with the use of their MTR with just a tap of their versatile octopus card. This card is a stored-value e-card type which can be used to pay for bus rides, purchases at 711, supermarket, vending machines and more! It is best to download their MTR App on your mobile phone (Android or Itunes) to know where to go, traffic news even a trip planner.

  • Visit Kowloon Park - https://www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/parks/kp/

If you are staying in Tsim Sha Tsui area, take time to visit Kowloon Park. This is along Nathan Road where you can either walk (if you are staying at Mirador Mansion, Chungking Mansion or Mira Hotel) or take the MTR and get off at Tsim Sha Tsui Station, Exit A1 or MTR Jordan Station, Exit C1, walk along Nathan Road towards Tsim Sha Tsui to Austin Road. Perfect time to come here is in the morning where you can stroll around, watch the birds, ducks and flamingos, jog or join tai chi for free.

  • Enjoy the view by riding the Cityflyer bus

Fastest way to get to the city is by Airport Express which will take you downtown in approximately 20 minutes. But the best way to travel to the city is by bus. Not only is it the cheapest, you will also get the chance to enjoy the scenery especially when you pass by the longest rail suspension bridge - The Tsing Ma Bridge!

Best view is at the top deck of the bus. You can leave your luggage on the lower deck and keep an eye on it from the monitor or have someone stay below to keep an eye on the luggage. Better be safe while enjoying your trip. Visit their website to see the Cityflyer routes:  https://www.hongkong.net/transportation/to-from-airport/bus
  • Take a day tour in Macau

If staying in Hong Kong is not enough, why not take a ferry for a day tour in Macau! You may also opt to travel one way by ferry to Macau then head back to Manila from there. There are 2 known ferry vessels that travel from Hong Kong to Macau:
  1. Cotai Water Jet - https://www.cotaiwaterjet.com/
  2. TurboJET - https://www.turbojet.com.hk/en/
Tickets may be purchased online, at the airport or through their ticket offices. Visit their website to know more about the ferry schedule and offices where you can purchase the tickets.
